Tinker Bell (commonly referred to as Tink or Miss Bell) is a tinker fairy who is widely considered to be the main character of Disney Fairies. She was based off of the original character of the same name, who is often called "Tinkerbell", created by J.M. Barrie. October 30, 2011 - May 22, 2017

Tinker Bell is without a doubt the most famous character in Disney Fairies, as well as one of Disney's mascots, being almost as recognizable as Mickey Mouse himself. She was voted favorite animated character of many girls throughout the world.

Having been around since 1953, and appearing everywhere for many years, she finally got her own spin-off franchise fifty-two years later, including a series of CGI films named after her.

Tinker Bell as she appeared in her debut

Until the arrival of the first Tinker Bell film, virtually nothing was known about Tink's past, how she was born, etc., except for the following famous quote by Barrie himself, which offered a simple, yet solid explanation as to how fairies came into being:

"When the first baby laughed for the first time, his laugh broke into a million pieces, and they all went skipping about. That was the beginning of fairies."

Disney and writer Gail Carson Levine used this quote as inspiration (and perhaps as a hint as to how the famous fairy was created) when writing the entrance of new character Prilla into the series in the book Fairy Dust and the Quest for the Egg, which turned Disney Fairies into a worldwide phenomenon.

This version of Tinker Bell first appeared in 1953, in Walt Disney's animated feature Peter Pan, on which the franchise is based. Tink was originally supposed to be featured in the Disney Princess line, until that idea was scrapped in favor of a new girls' line with .

Tinker Bell in Tinker Bell versus Lost Treasure.

Tinker Bell is recognizable by her trademark appearance, which features blond hair tied in a bun (in the Tinker Bell film, this hair is revealed to be around shoulder-length), bangs that hang to the left of her head, blue eyes and a child-like face. Her green leaf dress, complete with a short, jagged skirt and shoulder-less top, and her green leaf shoes with dandelion fluff on them.

At times, outside the Fairies franchise, Tink is depicted with a wand. This can be seen in Disney Channel commercials, as well as trailers for Disney movies. However, in the media she actually appears in, including her debut it Peter Pan, she is never seen actually holding one.

While this appearance is widely recognized and considered to be universal, other media has seen Tinker Bell with different appearances. For example, in Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure, she is seen wearing a different outfit, including pants, sleeves and a fairy equivalent of a cap.
